About This Album
Released July 12, 2021
Hand-Talk is the first duo album from jazz keyboardist Greg Hatza and tabla player Enayet Hossain, both of the Baltimore world-jazz group Melodic Intersect. The pair later followed it with Talking Hands (2022) and Hands Entwined (2023). Hatza’s keyboards, including the expressive ROLI, trade ideas as equals with the rhythms and colours of the tabla.
The nine tracks range from the groove of “Funking It Up” and the playful “Interplay” to the meditative “Mount Kailash” and “The Mystic” and the folk-flavoured “Village Dance”. It ends with the title track, a conversation between two pairs of hands. Released by Aimrec in 2021 (AIMCDIM429).
