About This Album
Mystical Breath presents bansuri player Deepak Ram, with Enayet Hossain on tabla, in two full ragas and a closing dhun.
Raga Bhupali, a five-note evening raga of serene simplicity, opens the album with an alap and gats in jhaptal and teental. Raga Desh follows, a melody associated with the monsoon, with an alap and gats in rupak and teental. A short dhun closes the album. The unhurried aalaps and the warm, breathy voice of the bamboo flute make this a natural choice for meditation and quiet listening.
Deepak Ram is a soloist of North Indian classical music who has performed across four continents and is also known for his collaborations and teaching. Mystical Breath is the third of his four Aimrec albums with Enayet Hossain, after Incandescent and Confluence. Released by Aimrec in 2022 (AIMCDIM434).
